Before you roll
- Check the vehicle profile. Before the trip NavGuru shows the profile your fleet set for this truck: tractor, trailer, height, weight, axles, hazmat. If it is wrong, tell dispatch before you leave; every low-bridge and weight warning is based on it. If height, weight or hazmat is missing you will see a banner and "Height unverified" in the speed cluster.
- Trailer swap? NavGuru asks you to confirm the profile again when it detects a swap or the profile changes.
- Mount and audio. Make sure the tablet volume is up. Turns and warnings are spoken.
The screen
Seven fixed positions, so you always know where to glance.
| Area | What is there |
|---|---|
| Maneuver panel (top) | Next turn, distance, street name and the turn after it. Nothing ever covers it. |
| Alert slot (under the maneuver) | One red critical card or one amber warning chip, or nothing. One alert at a time. |
| Speed cluster | Your speed and every limit that applies, each labeled: ROAD, TRUCK, FLEET, YARD. A fleet limit shows only when it is lower than the legal one. Over the limit shows a red outline and the amount over. |
| Up Ahead rail (right side) | What is coming in the next 50 miles: weigh stations, fuel, parking, wash, customer gate. The marker moves up as you drive. |
| Map | Your route, the dispatched corridor, and the places your fleet wants you to see. No clutter. |
| Bottom panel | ETA, remaining time and miles, next stop and order number. Expands when you stop. |
| Menu | Add or remove stops, day and night mode, traffic on map, tolls on map, voice guidance on or off, and Troubleshoot / Report issues. |
Warnings you will hear
Critical warnings are spoken in stages and timed to the last safe exit for a 53-foot combination, not a fixed distance. NavGuru reroutes you around the restriction automatically.
| Warning | What happens |
|---|---|
| Low clearance | Awareness, then action (“Exit 12 in 1 mile, keep right”), then last safe exit, then stop guidance if the exit is missed. Clearance and your truck's height are shown side by side. The route is changed for you. |
| Weight or hazmat restriction | Same staged warning and automatic reroute, matched to your truck's weight, axles and hazmat class. |
| Road closure | Confirmed closures reroute you and the added time is spoken. Unconfirmed reports are announced as “possible closure ahead” without changing your route. |
| Fleet restricted area | Areas your fleet has marked off-limits are routed around automatically. |
| Yard speed limit | On entering a customer or fleet yard the limit is spoken and shown in amber until you leave. |
| Customer gate | One mile out: “Commercial entrance ahead on the right. Do not use Smith Road.” The gate is pinned and the wrong road is marked. |
| Weigh station | Open or closed shown in the rail with one spoken line at three miles. |
| Steep grade, sharp curve, railroad crossing, high wind | Amber chip with the distance; curves include an advised speed. |
| Traffic delay | Slowdown ahead with the added minutes. If there is a faster truck-legal alternative, it is offered with one button. |
If NavGuru's data sources disagree about a restriction, it still reroutes you but says "possible height restriction" rather than asserting a number it cannot back.
If you leave the route
Nothing to do. NavGuru reroutes you to the next best truck-legal route from where you are within a few seconds. Your dispatcher sees the reroute; miles added by a safety reroute are never counted against you. If your fleet has turned it on, you will see a small "Off dispatched route, returning" chip; any question about why waits until your next stop.
Fuel, parking and adding a stop
- Fuel stop from your fleet. Where your fleet runs FuelGuru, the planned stop and the gallons are announced on route: "Fuel stop in 28 miles, 121 gallons." It sits inside your route. If that station is unavailable, the next in-network option is offered with the detour time. If your range drops below what you need to reach the next fuel, NavGuru escalates and routes you to an in-network station.
- Buy the gallons shown, on your fleet card. The stop is priced on the rate your card gets there, and it is a stop your fleet already allows. If the prescription says part of a tank, that is because a cheaper stop is ahead and it is already in your route with its own gallons. On refrigerated loads the stop states tractor gallons and reefer gallons.
- If the station is closed or you cannot get in, keep driving. The next in-network option is offered with the detour time. If you miss the stop, nothing to undo: a new stop is worked out from where you are now. If your fleet asks for a reason, it is asked at your next stop, never while moving.
- Nothing about fuel needs reading while you drive. The stop and the gallons are announced on route and sit in your turn-by-turn like any other stop.
- Parking and rest. Truck stops, rest areas and parking show as markers and in the Up Ahead rail, with availability where it is known. When you have a break coming, NavGuru points to the last good parking before it is due.
- Adding a stop while moving. One tap on a place on the route adds it as your next waypoint; your destination does not change. The new turns are never added inside the turn you are in.
- Adding a stop while stopped. Category chips (fuel, parking, weigh, rest, wash, repair, CAT scale, food) and a comparison list. Places outside your dispatched corridor are flagged in amber with the extra miles so you see the cost before you add them. If you add one, the reason (fuel, parking) is recorded for you so nobody asks later.
Changes from dispatch
- Required change: "Dispatch changed your next stop to DC 7. Route updated after this maneuver." Applied after your current turn, nothing for you to do, no deviation recorded.
- Suggested change: one button with the added miles and minutes, offered only when the driving is light. If you ignore it, it is offered again when you stop.
- Message from dispatch: "New message from dispatch. I'll show it when you stop." The text appears when you are stopped, with Acknowledge and Call dispatch.
Arriving at the customer
From 10 miles out the customer gate appears in the rail with one spoken line. On final approach the screen shows only the gate and the road not to use. When you stop, the at-gate card shows the stop name and order number, dock range, check-in location, paperwork reminder, yard speed limit and a yard map.
Satellite view is available near your stop or destination at low speed: it shows the entrance, how to approach, and where the docks are. It switches off at higher speeds to save data and because it is not useful at 60 mph.
Something not right?
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| NavGuru is not on the tablet, only another navigation app | Tell your dispatcher or terminal manager. The app has to be deployed to your tablet by your fleet's Platform Science administrator. It is not something you can install. |
| A low-bridge warning for a bridge higher than your truck, or on a road you are not on | Check the vehicle profile at the start of the trip. If your truck is on the default profile, ask dispatch to set yours. Your route itself will not take you under a restriction. |
| NavGuru closed while moving and will not reopen | Tablet safety lock. Pull over when safe, then tap Navigate in Workflow again or open NavGuru from the app list. The trip continues. |
| ETA looks wrong in heavy traffic | ETA updates as you drive and whenever the route recalculates. Report it with the time and place through Troubleshoot / Report issues in the menu. |
| The fuel level shown differs from the gauge | The app reads the engine sensor, which moves a few percent on curves and grades. Your fleet's fuel planning smooths this out. |
| Anything else | Menu, then Troubleshoot / Report issues. Include what you saw and roughly when. Your fleet reviews driver items every week. |
